HUSH LITTLE CHILD by Sara Jamison
721. Hush little child, Don’t make a sound;
One day we will not have to cover our heads,
While the bombs hit the ground.
Hush little child, Don’t make a sound;
(Sara Jamison Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
722. One day there will be peace, And hope shall be found.
Hush little child, Don’t make a sound;
If we stick together, we can get through this,
Together, our souls shall be bound.
(Sara Jamison Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
BLUE & YELLOW by Lynsey Newman
723. The thing that is colored blue and yellow.
The thing that gives us life and light.
The thing that will glow for all eternity and stretch for all eternity.
Across the Pacific, the springs of Colorado, the castles in England, and shore of Australia.
(Lynsey Newman Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
724. The thing that will burn and blow for eternity.
The thing that gives color and paints the day with happy brush strokes of warmth.
The thing where birds are its fish and the clouds are its protection.
Where blue is the sky. Where the yellow is the sun.
(Lynsey Newman Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
THE INNOCENCE OF A CHILD by Anna Purcell
725. The world is a confusing place for a child.
We teach them to love, But we forget to love others.
The golden rule is forgotten.
The innocence of a child is something we should all desire,
But we do not desire in it,
We destroy it. And it hurts them.
(Anna Purcell Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
726. It hurts them more than anything that we could ever do to them.
The children cry.
“Please more; I want some more!”
But we do not listen.
We have better things to do.
They stand there, Staring at us with a look of hopelessness and desperation.
(Anna Purcell Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
727. We are hurting them still.
We can see the pain in their eyes.
We are listening now, But we still don’t know what they want.
What? What is it?
Tears of aggravation are in their eyes;
They think we should know what they want.
(Anna Purcell Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
728. So they say again, “Please more! Please!”
What is it?
Now we wish more than anything that we knew what they wanted.
They are quiet.
Then they say, with the soft, sweet whisper of innocence,
Peace.
How said it is to see how we have lot our innocence.
(Anna Purcell Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
HOPE by Dustin Wright
729. Hope is a thing eternal.
Through the disaster is infernal.
Do not let it go.
Help it to grow.
And it will get you through your trouble.
(Dustin Wright Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
730. Hope will never leave you.
Hope will never deceive you.
It will stick by your side.
When all else has died.
Hope will never leave you.
(Dustin Wright Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
731. Our struggle seems endless
In a world where all countries are friendless.
Hate breeds hate.
But it’s never too late.
For hope.
(Dustin Wright Illinois International High School March 18, 2007)
MACHINTO by Breanna Walters
732. Give me some more, give me some more.
What is it that I want you to ask?
Well I want a lot of things, but one thing that I must have and
everyone else must want is some type of love.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
733. The little girl who was not yet three years old,
died on August 6, 1945, because of the war.
The war did cause her death, but she died with part of a tomato in her mouth.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
734. The tomato made the mother believe she was hungry and
that she wanted more food.
If her mother got it for her, it would keep her alive.
I think that the little girl was asking for more attention and affection
from her mother before she died.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
735. I think the little girl had an instinct that she was going to die,
and because of this she was telling her mother to give her more attention
and affection before she passed away.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
736. In the story it talked about the little girl turning into a bird,
specifically a white dove, which symbolizes love and freedom.
I think she dies wanting more love and freedom from the pain
that she went through before dying.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
737. The flames and burns on her body were probably very painful.
She probably died and became relieved that the pain had been taken away.
Ironically, the little girl died because someone was trying to take her freedom;
but in the end she became more free.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
PEACE, HOPE, & LOVE by Breanna Walters
738. Peace, hope and love, to me they all have different meanings.
To others they have the same.
To me, peace means that everyone has everything settled between themselves.
Peace is when you can have fun and not have to worry about anything.
Peace is when you know every thing is going to be alright.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
739. Hope is when you dream.
Hope is when you don’t have to worry about how big your dreams are.
Hope is when you don’t have to worry about how big they get either.
(Breanna Walters Illinois International School USA March 19, 2007)
740. Love is when people show true feelings for each other.
Love is when you know that someone is going to be there for you no matter what.
The little girl’s mother in the story loved her daughter very much,
and she had hope for her and she knew that everything would come to rest or peace for her eventually.
Peace, Hope, & Love
